Sunday 12/02/17

It got a bit cold last night, but nothing that I lost too much sleep over.
We woke up at about 6AM, packed up, and got on a bus from Kathmandu to Pokhara (8 hours).
The bus ride wasn't too bad; the mountains were pretty, we met some kids a few years older than us that were from Australia, and Ben and I sat in the back of the bus so we could "sprawl out" (even though it sucked because it was bumpy, haha).

We found a guest house for Rs.400 ($3.86) a night called Kusum Guest House.  We dropped our things off and explored town.
There's tons of little shops along on the street.  They all pretty much sell the same things: hiking gear (jackets, boots, sleeping bags, etc.),  food (candy, fruit, dry food, juice, water, etc.), and tourist-y items (shirts, hats, jewelry, etc.).
Ben bought a North Face jacket for Rs.1860 ($17.87)!  We've heard from people it’s not technically "real" North Face, but met a shop owner who confirmed it: they are made in a factory in China and when they "mess up" (400 fill instead of 650 fill or a stitching error, etc.) vendors can buy them for very cheap.  Still, they seem to be pretty good quality.

We made it to Pokhara!

Kusum Guest House: our new home!

It didn't take very long before we found the skatepark and Ben skated for a bit.

I met the little girl whose dad owns the hostel we are staying at: her name is Bipana.  She's ten years old and she made us tea while we talked about the homework she was working on.
Her English wasn't too bad: sometimes she'd use incorrect grammar like, "I play on your phone?" or "How many years are you?", but I didn't mind.  I also let her play some games on my phone.

While she was making the tea she said,
"my mom doesn't usually let me make tea by myself because I like to add a lot of sugar!"
Then she dumped a bunch of sugar into our tea.  hahaha
