Right now we are at about 11,582 feet elevation.  Because the levels of oxygen lower up here, our bodies need to acclimate.  It would be unsafe if we were to hike higher without our bodies becoming used to the new altitude.  It's recommend that we stay here for at least 24 hours.

It was a bit windy and cold outside, so Ben stayed at the teahouse pretty much all day.  I read him a bit of Lolita, then I FaceTimed my friends Kaylin and Gaige.
I walked around town and saw a map with things to do in the area (it's common for trekkers to stop in Manang to acclimate), and decided to go on a small hike to Gangapurna Lake.

Looking down into the valley

I was a bit confused as to where to go, so I just kind of ventured around, and went up a hill and found the lake by accident!
It was super windy on the shore, but very blue and pretty.  I was going to sit in the sun and read but it was too windy, so I headed back.

A very pleasant surprise:
I accidentally stumbled upon Gangapurna Lake!
Glad I saw it from up here first.

Very windy.
Gangapurna Glacier also pictured in the back.

Ben and I went out to get some lunch.  Found a little cafe and tried thukpa for our first time!
It’s a Tibetan noodle soup (veg for me, chicken for Ben); although I've never had pho, I'd think that's similar.   We also tried sea buckthorn juice, which is common around here and good for your blood I guess.  It kind of taste like wassail, or a sour orange?, I like that you can drink it hot or cold.  I think I preferred it hot.

Talked to some new trekkers and hosts at our teahouse, it gets pretty cold when the sun sets, so we stayed inside and read, talked, and I edited some pictures.
